PoDunk Radio Compilation planned for February 2012 release
hey kids, jacks insanity here. it's been an amazing 10 months here for the gang at podunkradio.com and we'd like to thank all of you, the bands, the labels, and the listeners for your continually increasing support and listenership.
When i founded podunkradio back in february of this year i wasn't sure if it'd go over very well at all but i was determined to make a go of it and busted my ass (and the asses of the podunk djs) to ensure that we could provide a well rounded mix of music from the punk genres that you just wont hear on am, fm, or satellite radio.
during the month of november listener reports showed we had over 151,000 listeners and the number just keeps climbing. rock the fuck on!
so anyways, to get around to the main event of this post i want to announce that podunk radio will be releasing it's first ever digital download compilation release. it will of course be free to download copy and distribute to your friends.
not going to give out any hints as to who's on it just yet, but i promise you it will be a damn good representation of why i founded this station in the first place.
I FUCKING LOVE PUNK ROCK!
stay tuned in and keep checking the blog here for more details and as always support your local music scene.
thank you all and have a great 2012. i know we here at podunk radio intend to.

Free Music from Mexico City's Kurado. - PUNK-SKA!
Free Music is always a good thing kids! Hailing from Mexico City, Mexico is Kurado, a Punk-Ska band that serves up a unique blend of punk and ska mixed with just the right amount of Mexican spice!
Check them out on facebook at facebook.com/el.kurado and be sure to tell them podunkradio.com sent you there.
Also don't forget to pick up the free digital album from their bandcamp page at http://kurado.bandcamp.com/
Support local music!
here's what the band had to say about themselves:
We are a band from Mexico City. We combine a punk rock influence with a cali vibe ska, the result: easy-to-listen but powerful songs. We have this CD on promotion now (Buenos Tiempos Forever), which is a compilation of previous songs under the band name of Kurado de Coco (that's an alcoholic drink served inside a coconut shell) that were re-recorded. We're soon releasing an album with brand new songs.
That's about it, the songs are in spanish but I think there are some translated lyrics somewhere in our facebook page: facebook/kurado.oficial or... facebook.com/el.kurado
Thanks, cheers.
ps. i apologize for the sloppy links - blogger was being stupid and not allowing me to make hyperlinks.. (do peopel still use that term anymore?)

PIPES AND PINTS
Pipes and Pints back on stage and ready to get on the road with the Mighty Božkov Tour 2012
Pipes and Pints, a successful Czech punk rock band that took a break earlier this year, are getting back on stage. In celebration of their comeback, the band will play Prague’s Lucerna Music Bar on the 2nd of February. This concert will kick off the Mighty Božkov Tour, a string of concerts taking place in Czech ski resorts, the first half of which will be headlined by Pipes and Pints.
In February, Pipes and Pints will be back playing live shows after a break that lasted several months: "After much deliberation we all agreed we did not want to throw away what we have achieved together. We came to the decision to continue in the original line-up" says Vojta, the band’s vocalist and bagpiper.
The grand return of the prodigal sons of punk rock at the Lucerna Music Bar will be supported by performances from two other bands. Receiving tumultuous ovations after their last show in the Czech Republic, the UK-based combo Buster Shuffle will deliver a playful mix of ska, rocksteady, and 2-tone. The night will begin with a performance by the winner of the Bandzone Showcase 2011 competition, a band called Wild Tides. Injecting a healthy dose of unruly fury into their shows, this band is sure to surprise with a Pulp Fiction-styled surf rock.
After the opening show in Prague, The Mighty Božkov Tour spring edition will rampage through Czech ski resorts. Other Czech bands, such as Fast Food Orchestra and The Spankers among others, will take their turns playing on the tour. More information on the Mighty Božkov Tour can be found at www.mightysounds.cz

The V8 Wankers frontman twists the petticoats !!! - New Music from Wyldfyre!
WYLDFYRE is all about having fun drink beer.
If not the Hell’s Angels provide red wine.
With his very own band, the V8 WANKERS, main man Lutz Vegas conquered the national Speedrock scene and left his mark. But what can a man do if beer, cars, women and his own band are not enough anymore?
Only one thing - founding another great Rock n Roll outfit. And even between slap bass and Bluesrock guitars he rocks in his very unique way.
With his first Rockabilly band SPIKE’S ROCKIN 4 he already played end of 80’s. They rocked, toured and recorded between 1987 an ’89 and in 1991, two years after they split, the band came back together to record an album “Final EP” which was released through Crawfishin Records and sold more than 1.000 copies throughout Europe.
Now, twenty years later and the first time ever, all seven songs will be released in a remastered version and meet Lutz’ actual Rockabilly project WYLDFYRE (founded 2006).
"7 brand new hits with grit plus 7 blasts from the past” - fourteen reasons for a great album and so he decided to bring the past and the present together on one split album to celebrate 20 years of Rock n Roll recording with Lutz Vegas and 5 years of WYLDFYRE.

Album Review: Koffin Kats - Our Way and the Highway.
The Koffin Kats
Our Way and the Highway.
It took just the first two tracks and i was hooked. i can already tell this is going to work its way into my top 10 most played list. "riding righ" ripped through my living room and i realized quickly that there just weren't enough decibles going on to justify this review. volume up, and "the way of the road" found that sweet spot inside my cranium lifting me out of the shit mood i am often in when i first wake up. the tempo changes throughout "severing ties" threw me for a loop, but hey, i'm fairly new to the psychobilly thing so i went with it and found it really wasn't a big distraction from the overall feel of the album.
the songs are all very relateable, you get the feeling they are written from the heart, or what's left of it and it just has that overall complete feel to it - these kids didn't half ass anything here - they straight up said here we are love us or fuck yourself.
The energy in this album is just amazing. there were a couple of guitar solos that practically ripped my seat of my pants, if you're looking for a fast-paced move your ass cd - this is one to get for sure. i suggest, being as i'm a terrible reviewer, that you shake your ass on down to yoru local tunage shop and pick this up or grab it online once it's released January 24th. if you pre-order at www.koffinkatsrock.com you get plenty of sweet bonus material. pre orders through the site recieve a bonus BLUE 7" vinyl (limited to 500 pressings) featuring "way of the road" and "locket of sin"
i really dug this album and can honestly say i have a newfound appreciation for the genre now and recommend this album to anyone just getting into psychobilly.

The Enders are looking to record a Full Length Album
but, like so many other bands, they are bit short on cash. Please take a moment to visit their Kickstarter page and chip 'em a buck or two. I'm sure they'd do the same for your band once they're rolling fat with green stacks from selling this full length of course.

i hate to say it...
but i've resorted to having to moderate the chat here.
i dared to think that i could create a place where like minded individuals could congregate and treat each other with something that could have even remotely been considered respect and i was proven wrong.
so now i have had to resort to moderating the chatbox and removing people that have nothing better to do that reenact their favorite episodes of jerry springer or 9021-trailerpark bullshit. i personally am a HUGE advocate of your freedom of speech - im also a HUGE advocate of you being smart enough to know when to shut the fuck up and quit pissing in everyone else's kool-aid. i built this website to promote bands not your bullshit, ok?
not to fear though loyal listeners, it's not like im walking in here with an iron fist or anything, but to those of you that have continued to run off listeners for the past few weeks, you have been and will continually be shown the way out.
i dont spend my HARD EARNED money and time here with this just so you can shit in my efforts to help the punk scene.
i genuinely do give a flipping fuck about these bands and their efforts to be listened to by a larger audience than the local pub.
eat shit, die, whatever makes you happy just don't try pulling it in here you fucks.

Dear Spin, Rolling Stone, Alternative Press, and Kerrang!
I commend you for all those fine pictures and glossy pages for bands that I don’t listen to. You have many resources and every issue is filled with the latest information of all the popular bands. I would however wish to make one minor request. I run a small blog and everyday I get to read a Myspace, Facebook or Reverbnation page about a band. Each band has worked 10 times harder everyday to get a chance to play a basement, open a show at a 200 person limit Knight of Columbus hall or the 100 person limit at the corner pub. They have no fancy press kit or glossy photos. They play songs I can relate to. They use their PTO time to have a once a year tour or once in a lifetime chance to get in the studio. They are like me. They do a job and spend their nights and weekends writing and playing songs. Some go to high school and spent their part-time job money to get their equipment. Some go to college and used their credit score to max out their $1000 student line of credit to tour for week to down a coast. These kids and some parents (mostly single moms and dads) just play and record because they love what they do. So I would like to challenge you to give up a half page to cover the real musicians who are the punk scene that you ignore or figure will not sell ad space. Some you have even banned (Joey we all support you!). They don’t live in fancy houses or sleep with movie stars, but they support each other and we are asking for your support. Take a chance and support the punk scene. As a killer band once said ‘the list is thousands long…’. Thank you for your time.

Just a quick note to let you the listener know about some changes to the site. i am slowly adding show descriptions and DJ bios to the site as well, as updating the links section. i also added a new feature "Band of the Week" click it (try right clicking and opening in new tab) and it will take you to the site for PoDunk Radio's band of the week. Also considering a "Freebie of the Month" tab as well for free downloads. Expect to see a tab for direct links to podcasts aired on podunk radio as well.
please, let me know what you think of these new features as well any other content you'd like to see added to the station, in the comments section below.

I was pleased as punch recently to open my email and find message from Pat Crawford of Total Confusion that included tracks off the new album Politcis Murdered Christ.
Here's a short bio on the band he included as well as links to more about this great band.
"Total Confusion, a barnsley, south yorkshire, england based band 1979 - 1984....Now reformed, alas! via the internet. Band members arranged to meet, drink, talk, drink & catch up on ones selves & drink after years of drinking, wondering, seeking, searching & feed the need to actually get their crap back together, may I add over a good honest pint! . . All Brother's in arms from rough Council estates, South Yorkshire, UK.
'Fusion' were nonetheless a solid Punk band with focus, belief, drink & attitude within that time & era (Yeah thats right, the time when Maggot Hilda Roberts Thatcher ruined!)...Their very last performance being a communal miners strike welfare concert in 1984, shortly afterward the group disbanded. 2009 saw more booze & a one off reunion to perform an outdoor 'all dayer' event to which drinks gratefully received & much support from faces past & present, consequently brushed the old cobwebs aside, sparked positivity & subjected the band, minds, matter & clasping of a pint pot to continue from where they left off.... A new 6 track CD ep was recorded in 2010 and an album recorded in 2011 - Politics Murdered Christ - 12 tracks of punk rock music!"

3 Way Ricochet ***New Interview***
3 Way Ricochet ***New Interview***:
3 Way Ricochet are an awesome Psychobilly/punk band out of Apple Valley, CA. They have played some great live sets and shared the stage with some pretty awesome bands. They also appeared on a comp. They are an awesome all around and really worth hearing. I got the band to tell their story...
Introduce yourself...
We are 3 Way Ricochet. We're from Apple Valley, California. Members are:
Laura Prieto-Lead vocals, Upright bass
Tommy Whittle-Lead vocals, guitar
Matt Burdick-Drums
How did the band start?
We were in other bands together, and we just like the way we play together, so we started this band.
How did you come up with the name?
We were watching an episode of the show "Myth Busters", about the myth of a bullet being able to ricochet in three different directions, and we made the joke that it was a "three way ricochet." We liked the sound of it, and made it our name.
Who would you say are your influences?
Weed, booze and our instruments.
What is the punk scene like in So. Cal?
It depends on where you go.
Describe the song writing process...
It varies, but basically whoever comes up with something first, then we will all add to it.
What have you released?
Right now, we're on a compilation being put out by Rawk N Roll Records called "Cadillac Comp. Vol. 2", which will be out sometime this year.
Who are some of the bands you have done shows with?
Nekromantix, Left Alone, Koffin Kats, Jerry Lee Lewis, Frenzy, Bitchfits, Graveyard Drifters, Three Bad Jacks, Royal Crown Revue and more.
Do you prefer to do shows at large venues or small clubs?
We like it both ways.
Have you toured?
No, we've traveled to Nevada and Arizona though for shows.
Is there a favorite band you like to do shows with?
The Chop Tops.
Is there a favorite place you like to do shows at?
Paddy O'Reilly's in Banning, CA and the Bud Pharm.
Do you see is the future of 3 Way Ricochet?
Our future looks bright.
How can people contact the band?
Our band email is 3wayricochet@gmail.com, we're also on Myspace, at www.myspace.com/3wayricochet, and we're on facebook under Threeway Ricochet.
