ready, steady, go.. Yo!Scunt Damaged Goods and Gravy Sweat Review. (yes, a few months late)

got a package from yo!scunt out of queens, ny. yesterday. several copies of the new cd damaged goods and gravy sweat, t-shirt, stickers and show flyers. of course the first thing i did was rip the cellophane off one of the cds and popped it into the ole computer to give it a listen. i knew from the submissions that yo!scunt had previously sent in to the station that i'd not be diassapointed [you can currently hear (doing lotsa) fucking drugs, angry #62, bi-polar girl, i was a kid in special ed., as well as what the fuck? in general rotation here on podunkradio.com]
the new album released (mid/late 2011) damaged goods and gravy sweat was released on freakhouse records is packed with bad ass tunes. 18 tracks in just over 33 minutes, i didn't want the damn thing to stop playing.

album opens with (doing lotsa) fucking drugs, a ripping ass, high energy song bound to get kids in the pit and sets the mood for the rest of the cd. yo!scunt aren't fucking around when they call themselves a hardcore band. Christopher (thee wailing-siren) fronts the band masterfully with his gravelly throat while drizzle von scuntface delivers basslines that make me want to just throw my bass in the garbage. seamus is  in the back just beating the shit out of his drums like a hooker that bit his cock and paulie mccartney is just over ther going off on his guitar, dude seriously is just getting the fuck off on his guitar.
album actually makes you do this in yoru room.

for me, the album really picks up on track 10] honky spic nigger slope. from this track on the mood of the album changes. whereas the first 9 tracks were great, you really get a feel for the intensity of the band and thier love of what they do in the remaining tracks, at this point i had to take the headphones off and blast this shit throught the studio monitors. the energy in this release is phenominal and demands a follow up release.  (ok, i demand a follow up release)

i really dig the shit out of this album and if you haven't picked a copy up for yourself i highly reccomend you grab a copy soon. if you can't like damaged good and gravy sweat you're not worth sharing air with.

check out yo!scunt on reverbnation and facebook and most importanty support independent punk rock - BUY THIS ALBUM!  punks gotta eat too.

Wolverine Records! Germany, Nordrhein Westfalen -

how long has Wolverine records been in business?
This year I do the Label for 20 years. Unbelievable... Never thought that this would happen when I start with it.

What got you into music?
With 10 years (around 1979) I start to listen bands like AC/DC, Kiss and Motörhead, what brought mit 3 years later to early Punk like Sex Pistols, Ramones, Clash and local Punkbands. Also I listen to the early Meteors and loved the Psychobilly Style. With 20 I started a Fanzine with some friends. Two years later in 1992 my best friends started a Band and as I was the guy who cannot play an instrument I thought I could be the Label who will release their stuff. So Wolverine started.
Strawberry Blondes

where are you located?
Germany, Nordrhein Westfalen (near the border to the Netherlands), Duisburg (original from Dusseldorf what is just 20 km away and still my hometown where the heart is).
Out of Luck

how do you feel about music today and how it's evolved since you started your label?
Well there is still Punk and Rock'n'Roll around what is great to discover. The Bands get technically very much better in all the years. So still I will do the Label as long as there is an interest in Rock'n'roll. In the last years the Internet change so much and things like CD burning and illegal Downloads made it much more harder to work with the Bands and do a good job and sold enough to make a living out of it. People have to learn that they destroy their own scene with illegal Downloads and that they have to support there scene with buying stuff from small Labels like mine.
the Spookshow

what can we expect from Wolverine in the upcoming year?
We just have released the CD of Berlins female fronted Killbillys Bonsai Kitten. Soon we also will release a Split Vinyl with the Bonsai Kitten Album on one side and the Graveyard Johnnys Album on the other side. On my Sub Label for wild Swing Music Frankie Boy Records I just released the CD "Midnight Boogie" of the HAFERFLOCKEN SWINGERS. Further we will release the CD of the Horror-Billys "Johnny Flesh and the Redneck Zombies", the new Album of the Psychobilly Legend P.O.X., a Split of Fightball and Strawberry Blondes and much much more.
the McRackins

is Wolverine Records actively seeking new talent?
I always looking foward to hear from good Bands with Potential and who are already work hard to get noticed!

what does Wolverine Records look for when signing a new act?
First of all I have to like the music personal! No way that I sign something I didn't like to listen [to] privately! The[y] Band has to be really playing a lot live and have to be honest and working hard to get noticed. A Label could only work hard and good for a band that do much things on their own!

the Rumble Club

Do you donate to any particular charities or relief efforts?
Lot of my Bands play for charities and good things. I don't want to make a big thing out of such things, as it should be a private thing.

Wolverine Records Night am 7.4.2012 in München im 59 to1 mit BONSAI KITTEN und JOHNNY ROCKET!
where can people find Wolverine records online?
you always can buy stuff directly from my website: www.wolverine-records.de  .
Interpunk has most releases and so have some good European Mailorders like Flight 13, Crazy Love Records, Drunkabilly, Jungle Records...

Digital you get my releases on Itunes, Amazon etc.
