Who Knew

Who knew starting a podcast could be so damned frustrating? After jacking around with Audacity (not a bad piece of software - but a little too glitchy on my mac) for my first podcast i decided to give garageband a try. I really like garageband, creating a podcast with it is a lot quicker.  I'm not having any trouble creating the podcast at all... it's getting the damn thing online and publicly available in a format anyone can use that's giving me the shits. today i am trying to upload to mevio and i'm pretty sure (after an hour of the damn thing saying it's working) that it's not working. At this moment i am ready to throw my cup of hot coffee into my laptop and then take a big steaming shit on it. Fuck me! i will overcome this. i will overcome this. think i'll try podbean now.
fuck!

The Toadies - Live at Crosswire

OK. So i went to the Toadies show last night.  First let me point out that this is the biggest act to ever play in Paris. Second, this was my first time to ever see them live and i was fucking ecstatic to see them in such a small venue.

Before the Toadies took to the stage they had two opening bands the first being a band called Hearts of Spain (at least that's what they had painted on the bass drum) i tried looking them up today on myspace music and other locations around the webhole but could not find them anywhere. Trust me you're not missing much anyway.  The music was sub par the vocals were just terrible (think beaver in pain) and the drummer seemed a tad distracted at several points during their show. The only redeeming quality this band had was the chick on the bass. This girl rocked those 4 strings like nobody's business. Not only could she play the shit out of that bass but she was pretty cute too (i had only had 4 beers and 2 crowns at this point so i know it wasn't the alcohol) she was dressed somewhat like a slutty school teacher and acted completely like an escaped mental patient. These guys were ok but i'd like to see them after they've practiced a few more years.

Next up was House Harkonnen out of Arlington, Texas. This was another band i've never heard of and was quite frankly [after the first band] was a bit afraid to hear. The emcee announced them as a "hard rock band". i found it comical that they were all dressed like they had raided lemmy's {motorhead} closet but the joke stopped during the first song. These guys KILLED! The area in front of the stage began to fill up and were it not for overly protective security there could have been a full on mosh pit right there in the middle of a country bar. Needless to say, i was pleased with the performance of this band but i will offer this word of caution: they sound better live than they do on their myspace page.  i do suggest looking them up if you're in the texas/oklahoma area any time soon and catch them live. they doth rocketh!

And then finally... the Toadies took the stage!

OK, even if you are not a Toadies fan, i suggest you go see these guys live. they put on one of the best [small venue] live shows i have ever seen. They began the show with Backslider and i couldn't help but wonder if todd was going to have vocal chords left by the time he was done with that song. Honestly, by the time they took the stage, i was pretty well drunk so i cant tell you the exact set list. I just know i hopped up and down for 2 hours like i was still 17 [my body is still reminding me today that i am not]
i recall they covered a beetles tune (again too drunk to have proper recollection)

All in all - they guys will bow you away live even the wife had a grand time and she does not drink.

rumor has it Stone Temple Pilots will be in town next month. maybe i wont get so drunk i can't tell you what happened.

Toadies. Tonight!

So yeah, they might be old news - but the fact is i never got to see them live back in the 90's.  Just so happens they are playing a show at a "club" tonight here in town. Will try to meet them, will try to get a few questions off to them and will report back here tomorrow whenever the hell i regain consciousness.

til then.

The Beginner

Okay, so maybe i should have taken some time to familiarize myself with the audio software i got to create my podcast with.

as with most things i waited until the day i planned to start to even open the application.  Didn't take long to get the basic functions worked out so i hammered out a show that's just oat 30 minutes. i know, i know a short show but i plan on spending time this weekend getting more into the software, maybe making up a few snazzy openers and such for the show - throw a soundboard of randomness together and push this bitch for all it's worth for next weeks show.

anyways - here's the line-up for this week
Start The Party -                                              The Dirtbombs
Bread & Bombs -                                             Not for Sale
Lean on Sheena -                                            Bouncing Souls
Baby, I'm an Anarchist -                                 Against Me!
Rip My Heart Out -                                                 The Pistol Whipper Snappers
Teenage Pussy from Outer Space -             Buck Naked & the Bare Bottom Boys
I Got Your Number -                                        Cock Sparrer
Falling in Love with Myself -                          Ivy Green
Suburban Dream -                                           Broken Bottles
Screw You, We're from Texas -                     Ray Wylie Hubbard

So the wife said get a hobby

So the wife said get a hobby.  Apparently she is tired of hearing me whine every Wednesday about how bored i was all day long while she was at work.
Yes, it happens every Wednesday.  I sit around the house bored out of my fucking skull until i transform into some sort of bleeding vagina. Apparently she is tired of it.

Lucky for me i recently stumbled upon the most fantastical website. realpunkradio.com
Brothers and Sisters let me tell ya, i have wandered in the darkness, i have stumbled upon the uneven terrain and have emerged into the light that is that blessed website.

This site got me to thinking.... "Hey, I like punk rock"...I have tons of it I'm not sharing with anybody! Why the fuck should I be so damned greedy with my ear lovin'?
so the idea to create my own podcast was born.

I will say now, upfront, the podcast you will hear tomorrow will be undercooked. there may be some risk of contracting salmonella in your ear. There will most likely be dogs barking, dishes breaking and quite possibly the sound of my good and decent neighbors busting through my door (and subsequently getting shot to death) to tell me "turn that shit down!"

Bear with me. I learn quickly.
'Til tomorrow fucks, fuckers and fuckerers-ers.
