Things Two Thousand and Ten Taught Me.

2010 is but a mere sliver of time now. It tried it's damnedest to keep me down, but i pushed back and kept on keepin' on. I learned quite a bit over the last 365 days about myself, about the  state of the world and about life in general. I learned that it takes longer for an economy to recover than a bunch of Harvard educated asswipe analysts say it will. I learned that it really isn't butter (it's closer to plastic). I learned that no matter how many hard drives you fill up, you still never have enough music and I learned that when you delete all the porn, you have tons of new space to keep music. I learned that the Android is the be all, end all of mobile computing power and I learned that no matter how much you want things to be the same they never will be.
I think the most important lesson I learned this year however is that thanks to the internet you can do something that truly makes you happy and no matter how bad you are at that thing there are people out there that will like it anyway. And to those people I want to say thank you for adding a good ending to a terrible year. I'd like to thank all the good folks at real punk radio for giving me the opportunity to join in a community of like minded folks that  congregate around their computers to share the greatest achievement of mankind. Music.

May 2011 be the year you all prosper and find that happiness you're looking for, whatever that may be.

Well, here it is Episode 10 of the Po-Dunk Punk Show! It was real, it was fun, it was real fun... after i turned my mic up that is (there is a few seconds of silence after the intro - sorry).... The exciting news is that this is the last episode using DIY equipment. That's right boys and girls mommy is getting daddy some serious studio equipment for Christmas. Seems like maybe more than just the stockings are hung around here. Fuck yeah, i just went there. The Mic Volume Mini-Pre Amp

i refuse to buy expensive equipment and i don't like to buy lesser price used equipment. especially when i have old electronics laying around the house.
    When i found myself in need of a way to boost the output of my microphone and be able to control the overall volume i scavenged from busted electronics around the house.
   After much foul language, several trips to radio shack, many soldering iron burns and many more outbursts of filth mouth i have finished what i started and only had to spend 30 bucks total instead of 100 or more. so there bitches.

So after pricing external mixers i gots myself the bright idea to hack my rockband mic and add an inline volume control knob to it. i've got an old stereo out in the storage room that just been begging to re-purposed for a while now and i had the spare time today seeing as i didn't have to pre-record a podcast for next week show, it being live next week and all, so i tore into the old stereo busted the volume knob out, cut the mic cable in half and thats when it occurred to me. i had no idea where my soldering iron was at. after looking around i found it, broken in the corner of the garage.

so now here i sit bare wires in hand, volume pot staring at me accusingly and the wife is in no shape to drive me into town to the radio shack.
