You Spoke, We Listened!

Since we launched the new website layout a couple of weeks back we have gotten a few "suggestions" (read as complaints) regarding some aspects, mainly the comically over-sized header. Ordinarily I'd politely tell you to go fuck yourself, but you guys were right; so I fixed it. YOU'RE WELCOME! I also fixed a few things with the blog area. As you know we run multiple blogs related to podunk radio and I felt they needed their own separate feeds rather than be all piled into one feed stream, so yeah, when you click "BLOGS" now you get optiins of which blog you want to read; be it the main feed, videos we post, interviews, or album reviews, the content you want is now much more easy to find (we hope)

Love, peace, and bacon grease; bitches, I'm out of here!

Get in on these great deals from TANKCRIMES!

FUCKED UP "Year of the Dragon" 12" w/ bonus 7" flexi disc // cdep

FINAL CONFLICT "Ashes to Ashes" LP + 2xCD + t-shirt
Los Angeles, California’s FINAL CONFLICT were highly influenced by British punk bands like DISCHARGE and one of the first bands to blend hardcore’s simplistic and manic sound and heavy metal's musicianship with any degree of success. These spiky haired punks created a sound that would go on to be emulated by hundreds of bands, none ever reaching the level of raw power that this LP contained. Originally issued on Pushead’s Pusmort Records in 1987 then later issued via Relapse Records in 1994, this stellar album now finds a new home at Tankcrimes. The original tapes found and baked, restored and transfered by Ulysses Noriega at The Laundry Room Recording Studio in Los Angeles, CA and remastered by Jack Control at Enormous Door Studios in Austin, Texas. Includes 24 page booklet with old photos, flyers and interviews plus lyrics and fold out poster.
2xCD format includes the 15 track "Nineteen Eighty-Five Demo" on a bonus disc.
Both formats available as a discounted bundle with "WAR?" t-shirt (printed with discharge ink).
LP format available in Splatter (mail order exclusive), Red or traditional Black vinyl.

Interview with Lower Class Brats by Rich A-Train

Hey Rich here from The Independent Punk Digi-Zine. I recently had a chat with Bones from the Lower Class Brats and here’s what he had to say about life in L.C.B.. Rich: So who is who and who does what in the band?
Bones: Consists of myself (Bones) on vocals, Marty Volume on guitar, Ron Conflict on bass, and Brat Scabies on drums. Rich: How did you come up with the name Lower Class Brats and how long have yall been around?
Bones: As of 2014 we have been playing for 19 years. The name came from my friend Frankie Nowhere who found it in the liner notes of the Germs cassette "Germicide" on ROIR. Rich: Has Austin always been home to the band?
Bones: Yes. Although we are all transplants to Austin. Rich: What 5 bands are you currently listening to?
Bones: Personally, I have been listening to Skyhooks, Guida, Joan Jett, CockSparrer, and Big Balls and the Great White Idiot. Rich: Tell us about any upcoming gigs or releases.
Bones: We have quite a few shows coming up this year. Too many to mention. We are currently working on our 5th studio LP. Rich: Do you have a favorite venue you enjoy playing?
Bones: That all depends on which city you are talking about... Rich: What are some of your favorite bands to play with?
Bones: That's hard. Off the top of my head, CockSparrer, Youth Brigade, The Adicts, Negative Approach, The Casualties... The list goes on and on... Rich: What do yall do to get ready for a show?
Bones: That depends who you ask. I usually chain smoke cigarettes, pound caffeine, and poop. Ha! Rich: What all goes in to writing an LCB song? Walk us through your song writing process.
Bones: That's a long and sorted walk buddy... Rich: Flask or Bong?
Bones: That also depends on who you ask. Pipe for me. Rich: What is your favorite scene from A Clockwork Orange?
Bones: Hard one. I always find something different every time I read the book or watch the film. Rich: Home Slice or The Parlor? What is your favorite Austin pizza joint?
Bones: The Parlor
Rich: Does anyone have hobbies or other interests outside of the band?
Bones: Yeah, totally. I have been very busy recently in the Sochi Winter Olympics and received the gold in Competitive Glue Sniffing. Ron is the most famous dog and cat walker in Austin and for that has recently gotten an endorsement deal with Lone Star Beer. When not studying for his PhD in amateur gynecology, Scabies may or may not be the East Riverside Ripper. And Marty is a multi-talented artist; when not shredding on guitar, he works downtown as a male stripper at the World Famous Greasy Longhorn Club. The ladies love him! Rich: How can people hear and get a hold of your music, merch, ect?
Bones: lowerclassbrats.bigcartel.com, lcbarmy.com ,facebook.com/lcbarmy, On You Tube as well just search Lower Class Brats.
Thanks so much Bones for taking the time and best of luck on the upcoming LP and all upcoming shows. Rich The Independent Punk Digi-Zine

Review - Bet Your Life - Give No Quarter TBR 03/25/14 - Synicalist Records

Bet Your Life, an independent punk rock band based out of London Ontario, reared its ugly head in the early spring of 2011.

Current members are

Shawn - Bass/Vocals
Scott - Guitar/Vocals
Sebastian - Drums

Known for their catchy choruses and in-your-face vocal styling, the members of Bet Your Life have been writing and performing original music together for approximately eight years. This most recent project is by far their best attempt to date.

Having been described as “the perfect blend of aggressive tendencies and hook, line and sinker melodies,” Bet Your Life continues to draw attention and expand their reach.
The trio’s debut EP, Landshark, was released on June 5th, 2012.

Their brand new EP, Give No Quarter, is scheduled for release on March 28th, 2014. They hope to hit the road in support of the release, and continue to write new material for their future debut full length.

I first became of aware of Bet Your Life a couple of weeks back when they submitted the track Tom Bombadil to PoDunk Radio for airplay and was quite impressed with the sound of this band and featured them on that week's PoDunk Punk Show.

This band has a sound that is grittier than a mechanics fingernails. One can quickly pick out a Flatliners influence and is that a bit of Against Me! sound in there as well? I think so. Fuck me if I'm off on that. The cover art that Dave Schultz drew is pretty fucking amazing, I can almost smell the spiced rum.

This is a HUGE sound out of a little band, everything is so tight in this EP that runs 5 tracks out over 14 minutes. My favorite tracks are Hold Them Under and Brittle Bones but that's not to say that the other 3 aren't good as well. This one will surely have you tapping your toes and bobbin your heads. I really dig this EP and feel that you will too. You can pre-order it today just 2 bucks in Maple Dollars (CAD) for the digital copy and 5 Maple Dollars (CAD) for the CD which comes in a sweet full-color, recycled cardboard pocket with artwork by Dave Schultz.

Each member of the band will kiss the disc so that when you're kissing the disc it's like you're kissing them and you're in love.

Pre-order includes immediate download of 2 tracks in the high-quality format of your choice (MP3, FLAC, and more), plus unlimited mobile access using the free Bandcamp listening app. You'll also get the complete album the moment it’s released.Shipping out on or around 25 March 2014.

Preview Tom Bombadil and S Club here and click that link to purchase. It may well be one of the best decisions you've made today.

“Give No Quarter” EP Recorded at The Vault, Produced by Jimi James, Mastered by Greg Hatchette, Album Art by Dave Schultz. Review - Drunk Nuns - A Parting Shot EP Released March 2014

The Drunk Nuns are a Boston based punk band formed in 2011. Consisting of Joey Barron on lead vocals, Andrew "Uncle D" Dedousis on guitar, Andrew "Andy Mac" MacTaggart on drums, and Frank "Big Cat" Ashe on bass. The Drunk Nuns have a quick, up-tempo punk rock sound derived from a wide range of rock n' roll influences, most notably the Ramones, Green Day, the Replacements, Rolling Stones, Guns N' Roses, and the Clash.

For the past two years, they have been gigging throughout the Boston area, playing venues such as Church of Boston, The Middle East Upstairs in Cambridge, The Midway Cafe in Jamaica Plain, O'Brien's Pub in Allston, The Cantab Lounge in Cambridge, Bull McCabes in Somerville, Radio in Somerville, The President's Rock Club in Quincy, The Beachcomber in Quincy, as well as Fury's Publick House in Dover, NH and various house parties and basement shows.

Playing with heavy hitters like The Scandals (NJ), Burning Streets, The Connection (NH), Mark Lind (of the Ducky Boys), The Stray Bullets, and OC45, their high energy stage shows have been growing steadily larger and their audiences significantly rowdier. Their newest EP, A Parting Shot was released March 15, 2014 and is available for free on their bandcamp website. The band is currently recording their second full-length album and anticipate touring in the near future.

Now for the review of the EP:

After seeing quite a bit of social media hub-bub regarding the release of this EP an checking out the band I headed over to their bandcamp page for A Parting Shot and gave the play button a click. I was quickly drawn in by Joe's growly/gravel vocals and the deep rooted rock based sound of the band. Quick punchy guitar riffs, a steady, very pronounced bass line that sounds like it's actually leading the songs as opposed to following, which I hear a lot of these days, and expertly executed drum tracks all combine to make this EP a very solid release. The Drunk Nuns are definitely not amateurs.

I absolutely love that they included 2 live tracks on this EP, Let It Go, and POF (a song about blow jobs) demonstrate that this band is as good live as they are in the studio; their live shows on youtube show that the crowd seems to think so as well.

I really dig this album and think you will too. The 5 tracks clock in at 14 minutes and have been a mainstay in my personal playlist since I first grabbed it as well as A Parting Shot and F-town  being in heavy rotation here at PoDunk Radio.com - I predict these will stay in that slot for months to come. At the low, low price of $Free.99 this is definitely one you need to get in your playlist ASAP and don't be a dick kick some digital cash at these kids - every little bit helps.

As usual, don't just take my word for it, give it a listen and grab a copy for yourself
